| Note* | | Migrated to Gallia County, Ohio about 1814 with three brothers, William,James & Henry. Around 1831, he moved on to the Jay County, In-Mercer County, Ohio area, apparently with his brother (my great-great grandfather) William FeltonDenney. He may have later moved on to Preble County, Ohio as there iscensus data for the 1840 and 1850 years which includes people that couldpossibly be his family. He is located in Fort Recovery, Ohio, age 82 and a farmer during the 1860census, was living with wife Nancy age 76 . There was a Henry/Harvey (sonHarve?) age 40 living with them. They were living next to Harrel Denney,Jr. The 1860 Jay County, Madison Township, IN census finds them as follows. He is shown on page 13 as living in dwelling 90 and was family 88, theywere living next door to his brother William's widow, Mary Ann Denney.Harrel was age 82, born NC, a farmer and had $6000 of real estate and$200 of personal property. Living in the household were his wife Nancyage 76, born NC, his son Henry age 40, born NC who was also listed as afarmer with $600 of real estate and $300 of personal property. Thisreport also shows that his son Harrel Jr. was in the same household withhis own family, shown as follows. Harrel Jr age 37, born Ohio, a farmerwith $500 of personal property, his wife Lucinda age 31, born Ohio, daughter Nancy E. age 11, born Ohio, daughter Mary A. age 9, born Ohio, daughter Lucinda C. age 7, born IN and son William H. age 8/12 born IN.ADDITIONAL DATA ON CHILDREN Son Tom had no children, lived in Michigan. He was still living at thetime of the Mecosta County, MI census in 1900. He was shown as a SERVANTof Samuel B. Weeks in the census. Guy C Denney had a picture of Tom taken in 1901 with Azariah Denney &Harrel F. Denney on the porch of Azariah's home in Mercer County, Ohio.Tom would have been 74 years old in the picture. There are conflicting reports on the son Harvey/Henry's actual name. Iam, for the present time going to use Henry as that appears logical dueto family naming practices.2 |
