Note* Note that several of his children married into same family surnames suchas Blissit and Harl, the Blissits and Harls listed were undoubtedlysiblings, further research would probably prove that out and all theBlissits and all the Harls could then be listed under their respectivefamilies together. It was common in those days for several members of onefamily to select spouses that were brothers or sisters to those thatmarried their siblings. His wife Nancy's mother was a Denney, thus William and Nancy wereprobably cousins! UPDATE: Per Broderbund WFT CD #25, Tree # 2413, she wasElizabeth Denny and was born in Baltimore, MD. Any researchers wanting toknow more about that Goatley line, it shows many details about Nancy'ssiblings and their families. William and his wife moved to Meads County, KY, where they settled onfour hundred acres of land one mile below the falls of the Rough River.Per Robert Burk, they moved to Spencer County, IN around 1835-1836 tojoin up with other Meeks clans that had started to settle there in 1811. Nancy Goatley's father was a German, who married an Irish girl by thename of Denny, probably related to Elizabeth Denney who married PriddyMeeks. It appears that Nancy may have moved to Illinois after the deathof her husband in 1846 as there is a record of her death and burial inthe cemetery at Barnhill, Illinois. Several of her children had moved toWayne County, IL William is buried at the Baker Creek Cemetery, near Eureka, SpencerCounty, IN. His wife Nancy is buried at the Barnhill Cemetery, Barnhill,IL He was a Baptist Minister Nancy was living with her son John during the 1850 census. William may have had a previous marriage, per Rootsweb World Connectreport from Angela Meeks, she shows William married a Elizabeth Tinley in1801. Per Sharon Myron, this is incorrect, that marriage was a William,son of Athe Meeks. ADDITIONAL DATAON CHILDREN Differences noted between data from William Denney and Robert Meeks ondata for children: Robert shows Elizabeth as just BETSY, Robert showsCatherine as KATTIE, Robert shows James Warren as WARREN, and Robertshows Martha Jane as PATSY JANE. Differences in DOB from Robert areElizabeth 1805, Catherine 1807, Martha 1815, Priddy 1817, Mason as 1819,and William as 1823.2
