William and his wife moved to Meads County, KY, where they settled onfour hundred acres of land one mile below the falls of the Rough River.Per Robert Burk, they moved to Spencer County, IN around 1835-1836 tojoin up with other Meeks clans that had started to settle there in 1811. Nancy Goatley's father was a German, who married an Irish girl by thename of Denny, probably related to Elizabeth Denney who married PriddyMeeks. It appears that Nancy may have moved to Illinois after the deathof her husband in 1846 as there is a record of her death and burial inthe cemetery at Barnhill, Illinois. Several of her children had moved toWayne County, IL William is buried at the Baker Creek Cemetery, near Eureka, SpencerCounty, IN. His wife Nancy is buried at the Barnhill Cemetery, Barnhill,IL He was a Baptist Minister Nancy was living with her son John during the 1850 census. William may have had a previous marriage, per Rootsweb World Connectreport from Angela Meeks, she shows William married a Elizabeth Tinley in1801. Per Sharon Myron, this is incorrect, that marriage was a William,son of Athe Meeks.
