| Note* | | The Internet Gendex Family File on William shows that he was born atSouth Carolina, that his wife's name was Patsy instead of Martha and thatthe marriage date was Feb 10 (perhaps marriage bond date!) instead of 28Feb. This source quoted 'The History of Van Buren County, Tennessee, THEEARLY CANEBREAKERS' as their source for the data. For the present time, Iwill carry his wife with the possible AKA of Patsy, WFT 957 also has hername as Patsy. For anyone wanting more data on the Burnetts, Broderbund World FamilyTree #2190, CD #11 contains numerous ancestors of Patsy. They spelled thesurname as BURNETT in this source. WFT 957 also lists Emaline as their child, she was not listed in previousdata. The descendants in WFT 957 come from Emaline, thus I am going toassume she is for real and add her to this family. Per a family group sheet gave to William Denney by Marie Graves in 1995that was prepared by Elton and Jeanne Denney of Springfield, IL in 1990,William had a spouse named Margaret Scott and they were married 3 July,1804. William Denney thinks they had the wrong William. Per an information sheet provided to William Denney by Mary Denney in1995, they had eleven children, the first of which was born in Kentuckyand then the family moved to TN. William Denney lists twelve children ,we may have an extra child added here to be removed as things are sortedout. In the 1850 Van Buren County, TN census, he was a single farmer and anAustin Denney (age 40 b. TN) was living with him. Two houses away was anEliza Denney (age40 b. TN) living with Joseph C. Hastion and his family. Much of the data on Capt. William Denney's descendants herein wasprovided me by William Denney of Vancouver, WA. He has further supportingevidence of all facts/notes. Some of his input was provided him by aMarie Graves which I believe is the Marie Graves of Lakeland, Floridathat has written a couple of books on this Capt. William Denney. Pam Groover gives a DOB of 1784 for William. William and Martha were laid to rest at the Big Fork Cemetery, Van BurenCounty, TN2 |
