Milit-Beg*1941 World War II Service: Sergeant; Army Serial Number 6819438. Fort Leavenworth; Served in Command and General Staff School Detachment from Beginning of WWII in the Book Bindery. Discharged on November 20, 1942; Completed Officer Candidate School on November 21, 1942 Where Received Commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the 69th Infantry Training Battalion at Camp Wolters, Texas. Made 1st Lieutenant on October 1, 1943; December 1943 - February 1944 at Camp Horn, Arizona. From February 1944 - August 1945, 24th Infantry South and West Pacific: February to March Intelligence Staff Officer 2nd Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment at Guadalcanal. Commanded Company F, 24th Infantry Regiment at Saipan, Mariana Islands in March 1945. Received the Bronze Star. Occupied the Island Tokashiki, a Part of the Kerama Island Group off the Southwest Coast of Okinawa. Reassigned at End of War to Camp Robinson Training Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.5

Burial*26 October 2007 Paradise Cemetery, Paradise City, Butte Co., CA, Lyle was buried next to wife Vivienne and eldest daughter Nancy Jones. Lyle's four living children (Linda, Peggy, Nanette, and David), all if his acknowledged grandchildren (other than Greg), and four of his great-grandchildren attended the service. Lyle was buried per his wishes in a simple but beautiful wooden casket with full military honors and in full military dress.9
