Occupation Worked as a farmer and farming hand for most of life. "Later on [after death of first wife] he moved to New Point, working for farmers and renting farms to operate for himself. . . . The young Kershaws [after marriage to Alpha Bloomer] rented a farm from Allan Trimble Bloomer but soon the men couldn't get along with each other and the Kershaws moved to another farm. . . Fred would rent land [after move to New Point, MO] for the summer crops, sometimes selling them while they still stood in the field. He would work as a hired hand or buy chickens and produce and take it to St. Joseph, Missouri to sell for profit. He was industrious doing whatever he could do to provide for his family. His wife, Alpha, kept their home, cared for their children, helped in the farming endeavors and sometimes taking in sewing to make a little extra money. Of course they always had a home, garden chickens, fruit trees and a cow to provide dairy products for the family.2

It looks like he might have been in the hospital for 2 months. States he was born on May 29, 1867. He was a janitor. He was born in IL. His father Peter Kershaw was born in NY. His mother Hannah Walker [sic] was born in NY. Buried in Mt. Washington cemetery. Undertaker Quik & Tobin.6
