Death*5 April 1913 Exeland, Sawyer Co., WI, Obituary of Abijah Sloan
"Obituary:
A. M. Sloan was born October 2, 1830, in Iredell county, North Carolina, and departed this life, April 5, 1913, near Exeland, Wisconsin, aged 83 years 6 months and three days. He came to Missouri in 1850 and and located in Buchanan county, moving from there to Holt county in 1870, where he resided until March 25, when he removed to Wisconsin.
He was united in marriage to Miss E. J. Hill in his native state in 1850, and by this union two sons and two daughters were born; his wife and two sons preceded him to the beyond, the two daughters remain, now Mrs. Sealey Reeves and Mrs. Watson Bloomer, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In December, 1886, he was again united in marriage to Marina, daughter of the late John B. King, of near Oregon. One son was born by this union, who with his mother survive and are living near Exeland, Wisconsin.
He united with the Methodist church when quite young, and died in that faith, always attending that church until affliction and old age prevented him. He was a kind and affectionate husband and father.
The body was brought to Forest City, where funeral services were held April 16th, by his pastor, the interment being in the Forest City cemetery.
We desire to return our thanks to one and all who assisted in the last sad rites and burial of our dear father.
