Felix died 7 Aug 1841 in Fayette Co., OH, at age 85. He married Jane Orr est 1777 in York Co., PA. Jane was born about 1755. Jane died Mar 1829 in Harrison Co., KY, at age 73. According to one report, Felix McElhaney, was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland, but came as a child to York County, Pennsylvania and served in the Revolutionary War from there.(1442) However, there is also record that Felix was born in PA. Felix was a weaver by trade.(1443) He stayed in Kentucky until the 1828 death of his wife, Jane, then moved to Ohio to be near his children. Felix died in Fayette County, Ohio in 1841.(1444) Felix [spelled McIlhenny in RW Pension Records] served as a corporal in Captain David Grier's Company, which came from York, Hanover, the vicinity of Dillsburg and the lower end of York county. Its membership was almost entirely composed of Scotch-Irish [Ulster Scots]. He fought in the Battle of Three Rivers, the story of which is told in a letter written by Lieutenant Colonel Hartley, of York, to his personal friend, Jasper Yeates, of Lancaster. This letter was dated at the camp at Sorel, three days after the battle, June 12, 1776. It was the first engagement of the Revolution on American soil fought by Pennsylvania troops. Although they did not succeed, the battle proved again to the ministry and the King of England that the American volunteers, fighting for liberty and independence, were destined to rank in ability and achievement with the trained soldiers of Europe.(1445) Felix was captured by the British in Lower Canada on 7 Jun 1776 and taken to Quebec, where he was placed on a prison ship and pardoned after about 4 months.(1446) Felix McElhaney and Jane Orr had the following children: 2 i.
