Note* Do not know the relation, but given the names I would be surprised if there was not. In New York Marriages Previous to 1784 it lists Tunis Kershow (Cershow) marrying Effee Cooke on Sept. 22 1773 Rec. M.B. Vol. XXI Pg. 119 I believe these marriage records are maintained in the state archives. 
Note The Kershaw name has many variants, especially before the 1820's. Variants inclued Coshaw, Carshow, Cershow, Cashow, Cossart, Cassou, Cosseau, Casou, Cosart, Cozad, Kershow

The tunis Kershaw of Kings Co. who had a father Jacob Cosseau who wife's Father's name was Tunis. I think it is almost certain that our Tunis is a decendant of Jacob given the unusual name.
