Death*22 July 1945 St. Mary's Hospital, Winfield, Cowley Co., KS, "Pioneer Resident of Dexter Dies. Mrs. Lucy May New, 58, wife of J.F. New of Dexter, died Sunday morning in a Winfield hospital. Born in Dexter on June 28, 1887 Mrs. New lived there all her life. She was married to J. F. New on April 28, 1909. Mrs. New was a member of the Methodist church and had been serving at Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge in Dexter. Surviving relatives are the husband; two daughters, Mrs. Dudley Fulton and Mrs. Ray Sullivan of Winfield; a son; Technical Sergeant Reuben C. New, stationed in Egypt; four sisters, Mrs. Sam Booher of Arkansas City, Mrs. Nelson Carter of Hewins, Mrs. Ireland of Neosho, Mo. and Mrs. Forrest Darnell of Neosho; a sister-in-law, Mrs. George Prather of Cedar Vale. Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist church at Dexter. The Rev. A. C. Kitch of Winfield officiated." Another obituary in the Dexter News stated she "passed away Sunday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Winfield after a week's serious illness following a major operation." [Note that I don't have the clipping date just the age at death]1,3
