Note*circa 1911 Jeff Jones came down to warn Ernie about the flooding of the Chariton River. Ernie and Ettie lived off the banks. Ernie was not concerned but Grandfather Jones said he was taking his daughter and grandson to his house on the hillside. When Dad did leave, the water had washed out the windows. The horses had to swim.9
