Note* They lived in the Keokuk Iowa area. Myrtle had a daughter, Cecil, by her first husband, a Garrett. Simmie reared this daughter. Simmie and my Uncle Bethel Mathis were very close chums. I have heard them tell of many funny boyhood experlences. The last time we ate dinner with Simmie, his false teeth hurt him so bad that he put them in his pocket and gummed his food.3
