Note* Paul West: Tommy was one of my favorites. He often came to Carrollton and was always happy and jolly. One day I placed a screen wire tray over the mouth of a bumble bee's nest and caught a large number of bees. Tommy said, “Don’ t they ever sting you?" I said, “This kind doesn't sting." Tommy placed a finger on the tail of one of the bees. It plunged its stinger deep into his finger. He danced around and sucked on his finger. I laughed, but in a few minutes, he was as white as a sheet and was vomiting. He had alergic reaction to the sting. Now I can appreciate his situation since after many years, I have become alergic to bumble bee stings and must go to a doctor as fast as possible for a shot to counteract the bee poison.3

Note*circa 1933 Enola Ziebol: Helena left for Kansas City soon after birth of Bobby Gene. So Bobby Gene was left with Tommy and Grandmother Jones. Mae Williams (sister to Sarah Jones) wanted the baby. Because of the Williams Family influence in the community, she had the sheriff come and take the baby away. When Tommie tried to see the baby, he was arrested. Enola, although small remebers the Sheriff forceably taking the baby, said she never spoke to her Aunt Mae (great-aunt) again. Her Grandmother Jones and Great-Aunt Mae had been close sisters prior to that. Bobby Gene's Uncles later said that the whole thing had been handled badly. Tommie soon left for Kansas City. Vadyne Allen who was a little bit older than Enola and lived with her grandmother Burnam who was sister to both Sarah Jane Jones and Mae Williams remembers also Bobby Gene living with the Jones first and that the William's went to court to get him. Vadyne said that Tommie was so proud of his baby. When Sarah Jane died, Mae asked Vadyne's grandmother for an OK to go to the funeral, but Tommie said if she showed up he would kill her. She cried and said she wanted to go. Vadyne's grandmother to Mae that she was staying out of it. Mae and her son raised Bobby Gene., Principal=Bobby Gene Jones, Witness=Sarah Jane Sloan6,7

Notecirca 1952 Bobby Gene not remember meeting his Father until an adult, maybe two years before his death. Bobby Gene came home from the service and looked him up in on 12th Street in East Kansas City. His main job at the time was cutting trees. Was a member of union but had not worked much prior to his death., Principal=Bobby Gene Jones11
