Note*25 May 1987 Paul West: "On Memorial Day, May 25, 1987, Christina and I met Vadyne and Orville, Delbert Burnam, Gilbert Burnam, Delbert’s son and his wife, Helen at the Howard Cemetery. Junior Thayer and his wife were also present. We visited the Howard, Old Chariton and New Chariton Cemeteries. At noon all of us ate dinner at Vadyne's home. A lovely family style picnic lunch was served. We were also joined by Vadyne’s daughter, her husband and one of their children."1 
Note*circa 1989 Paul West: Vadyne and Orville have retired. They have sold all but forty acres of pasture land which they rent out. In 1978 and 79, they built a new house. Luther Earl Elliott was born February 26, 1918 in Atlanta, MO and passed away March 12, 2000 at the Colonial Springs Care Center in Buffalo MO. He was the eldest son of George and Grace (Burnam) Elliott.
He was reared and went to school in Macon County.
He married Lois Davolt of Ethel, October 8, 1937. They had a daughter, Lois Geraldine now living in Citrus Heights CA.
He married Mary Jones November 10, 1967.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Clinton Dale Elliott.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter Gerrie McDonall, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, five stepchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, one sister Vadyne Allen of Callao and one brother Keith Burnam of AZ.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 1943 and was discharged December 31, 1945. He was an active member of the VFW Post of Nixa, MO and the American Legion.
