Children:

David’s will is on file in Orange Co, NY. It was dated Oct. 9, 1734 and proved June 16, 1738. It divided his property among David Jr., Silas and Jonathan. Jonathan sold all or part of his share after his father’s death in 1738. David Benjamin Sr. bought this land from Ebenzer Holley of Goshen, NY. David Sr. granted one half of his property in the southeast division of Goshen Township to his oldest son David Jr., except ten acres given to his son Silas, and the other half to his son Jonathan.

Sources: Records of Charles Benjamin of Elmira, NY, records of Mrs. Robert Boehler of Wayne, Ind., and Orange Co. Probate records, per Arlin Benjamin.

From Arlin Benjamin: “I have never seen an official record of the date or place of Elizabeth Benjamin’s death and my date of death after 1765 was based on Abner’s date of birth. In fact, there are some records that indicate that Theophilus and Elizabeth had children as late as 1773, but most records indicate that Abner was the last child of this union. I have limited data on Elizabeth but do know that she married Theophilus Wood either 1 Feb or 10 Feb 1743 in Southold, Suffolk Co, NY. They appeared to have had either 10 or 11 children depending on which records you wish to believe. The children I have are as follows: born in Suffolk Co, NY -- Benjamin b 1746/47, Hannah b 4 June 1748, Mary b 16 July 1750, Theophilus b 22 July 1752, William b 20 Nov 1754, James b 26 Nov 1756. Born in Orange Co, NY – Abraham b 25 Dec 1759, Daniel b 26 Feb 1761, Simeon b 26 Oct 1763, Abner b 17 Mar 1765. Some records show that there was also a Jacob Wood b 1773. I feel Elizabeth was likely born in either 1724 or 1725 and was married in 1746 at apx 20 years old. She would have been 40 at the time of Abner’s birth and 48 at the time of Jacob’s birth if he was actually part of this lineage. “, Principal=Elizabeth Benjamin, Principal=Theophilus Wood1
