Note* William Manlove, son of Mark, was probably born when the family was in New England. William settled in lower Kent County after coming to Delaware. He married, on November 1, 1676, Alice Robins, daughter of Samuel and Mary Robins. Samuel, according to his 1662 will, died before Alice was born. The will mentions a daughter Mary and an expected child. The widow subsequently married a Richard Allen, who brought Mary and Alice Robins from Virginia to Somerset County. William Manlove became active in colonial politics. Because the three counties of Delaware were then under William Penn's propriatorship, William's name is mentioned in the archives of Pennsylvania. These records show that he was a Justice in Kent County in 1689 and 1690. In 1689 and again in 1692-1693, William Manlove was a member of the Pennsylvania Assembly for Kent County. William died in 1694: his will shows he had substantial landholdings.

He had three sons and three daughters, snd he was also survived by his wife Alice and his brothers John, Mark, and George. Son Mark was the only one of the children over the age of fourteen. Sons William and Samuel, and daughters Mary, Hannah, and Elizabeth were all under age. William bequeathed thirty shillings per year to brother John, and the estate was placed in the trusteeship of brothers Mark and George. His wife Alice later married a John Foster.2
Birth*1645 New England, Wheeler genealogy gives place of birth as North Wales or Shropshire, England in 1645. Manlove genealogy gives place of birth in New England in the United States which is more consistent with the evidence. Date of birth was not given.1,2
