| Note* | From Margaret Hunt: E. Francis McKinney, called Frank, was born in 1879, in Lowell, Cherokee County, Kansas. While attending the Quaker Academy in Lowell, one of the teachers encouraged him and his brothers William and Robert, to attend medical school. These three young men all worked their way through the University of Kansas Medical School, which consumed several years of backbreaking labor in the fields, and in the copper mines around Boise, Idaho. After graduation, he married Kathleen Moore, and set up a practice in Galena, Cherokee County, Kansas. Francis died there about 1928, of tuberculosis. He and Kathleen had no children.2 | |
