Note* His wife's DOB is supported by the 1850 Henry County, IN census. Shubal is buried at the Greensboro Cemetery, Henry County, IN. His wife Doritha is buried at the Cadiz Cemetery, south of Cadiz on Road100s, Cadiz, IN. His wife Maragaret is buried in the Flat Rock Cemetery, Henry County, IN. Per the book 'History of Henry County' 1884, Shubal arrived in Henry County, IN in 1849, locating at Flat Rock, Liberty Township, where they lived until his wife, Margaret died. Shubal then moved to Greensboro Township, where he was still living in 1884. On March 28, 1831 in Preble County, Ohio, the Court appointed Shubal Denney as the guardian of the minor Mendenhall children, Elijah age 14,Hannah age 12, Mary age 10, Eliza Ann age 8, and Isaac Mendenhall age 5. They were heirs of John Mendenhall, deceased, stepchildren of Shubal and were born by Shubal's wife Margaret. During the 1830 Preble County, Ohio census, Shubal was living five houses away from his father Lazarus Denney in Gratis Township. Shubal was still living in Henry County, Liberty Township, Indiana during the 1850 census and he was still married to Margaret at that time. His name was shown as Shabiel at that time. He was evidently living next door to Dorothy (Jenkins) Hough and her two children, Ira and Irilla. Dorothy was to become Shubal's 2nd wife in about a year! He was living in Henry County, IN on Nov 25, 1852 when he married the widow Dorithia Huff at the Flat Rock MM. On March, 1831, Elisha Stubs and James Mendenhall, adms. of John Mendenhall, dec'd. vs. widow and heirs. Petition to sell land. Filed6-7-1830, land, 90 acres of north side of the NE 1/4, Sec. 34, Twp. 4,Range 3. Widow Margaret, now wife of Shubal Denney. Heirs: Elijah, Hannah, Mary, Eliza Ann, and Isaac Mendenhall, all minors. There are a large number of Denneys living in the New Castle, IN area, as a future project, I or some future researchers should explore and open up this area some more! ADDITIONAL DATA ON CHILDREN Phebe and Charles are buried in the Cadiz (Friends) Cemetery, south of Cadiz on Road 100s, Cadiz, IN. Lydia was living with her brother Lewis and his family in the 1900 Dearborn County, IN census. Deliliah is buried in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Henry County, IN.
