| Note* | | Jordon lived at home with his parents during the 1830 Preble County, Ohio census. He was disowned by the Elk Monthly Meeting on Nov 5, 1831, no reason given. During the 1840 census, Jordon and his family were living in Hendricks County, IN. During the 1850 Hendricks County, IN census, he was living in Marion Township and shown as being a carpenter. He owned $2750 worth of real estate. There were three males living with them, Abner Taylor age 24.Lewis Hunter age 23 and Michael Riley age 32. Hunter and Taylor were were farmers and born in NC while Riley was born in Ireland and was a merchant. During the 1860 Hendricks County, Marion Township, IN census, he was still a carpenter. In 1870, they were still living in Hendricks County, Marion Township, IN .Jordon is now shown as a farmer. Jordon age 57 born VA, Elizabeth age 56born NC, Mary age 22 born IN, William Robin age 90 born NC, John Denney age 26 born IN, Mary C. age 21 born IN, Lola age 4 born IN and Lorena age one month born IN. Based on this census, we are assuming that Elizabeth's maiden name was Robin and William Robin was her father living with them. Also, based on this census, we are building a family for John Denney assuming that Mary C. was his wife and children Lola and Lorena were theirs. Per Carol Barton he died at age 69y 9m 30 and was laid to rest at the Robbins Cemetery (On the Maynard Noland Farm), Marion Township, Hendricks County, IN William Denney and 1870 census reports gives his wife's surname as ROBIN, Carol Barton has it as ROBBINS His wife's year of birth would be 1811 based upon death date and age (74)at death, it would be 1814 based upon 1870 census Carol Barton contacted me on the Internet and offered to provide data to further enhance the Jordan Denney line. William Denney had the line started based upon Quaker records, Carol as a descendant of Jordan was able to bring it up to date with more pertinent data. My thanks to Carol for her input on this line2 |
